2002
Passage of the SOX Act of 2002
The Sarbanes Oxley Group was first contemplated soon after the bipartisan Sarbanes-Oxley Act was finalized by the House and the Senate, and signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2002.
Our Founder, Mr. Sanjay Anand, also launched his consulting, advisory and assurance practice (CLA Solutions Assurance Systems LLC) in June 2002 in anticipation of the passage of the Act.
Frequently used acronyms for the Sarbanes-Oxley Act include: SOX, SOA, and SarbOx.
2003
Our Humble Beginnings: Sarbanes Oxley Group™ LLC established
Sarbanes Oxley Group was officially established and launched in June 2003.
First Order of Business: Research and development related to creation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Guide for Finance & IT Professionals (released June 2004).
Starting 2003, our Founder and Chairperson, Mr. Sanjay Anand, has spoken at dozens of conferences, conventions, symposia and other events related to Sarbanes-Oxley, Governance, Risk Management, Controls and Compliance, for both technology as well as non-technology professionals across the US.
2004
First edition of The SOX Guide for Finance and IT Professionals
Release of the first edition of the Sarbanes-Oxley Guide for Finance and Information Technology (IT) Professionals (a.k.a. “the black book of SOX”™)
By the end of 2005, the book had become a bestseller.
Also in 2004:
Planned launches of the SOXGAP™ and SOX Institute™ brands for research, training, certification, membership, advisory, consulting, and other services.
2005
US launch of the SOX Institute® (a.k.a. Sarbanes-Oxley Institute
™
)
Launched SOX Institute, and its Sarbanes-Oxley training and certification programs in the US for both practitioners as well as auditors (as SOXGAP™, or the Sarbanes Oxley Group for Auditors and Practitioners)
Initiated affiliate relationships with training, conference, consulting and other organizations around the US and beyond.
Our Chairperson Recognized As a Founding Member of NASBA’s Center for Public Trust (CPT)
NASBA CPT was formed in 2004. The mission of the NASBA CPT is to champion the public trust by advancing ethical leadership in business, institutions and organizations. The NASBA CPT addresses the issue of ethics and ethical behavior in business, education, public policy and society, through co-sponsored events with prominent colleges and universities, firms and other ethics organizations.
The three CPT pillars of Ethical Leadership Training include: Culture, Leadership and Strategy.
2006
Rapid US & Overseas Expansion
Rapid expansion of our Sarbanes-Oxley training and certification programs around the globe with eventual affiliations across Asia, Europe, Canada, Australia and more.
Memberships/subscriptions from over 60 countries across all continents. First editions of our self-study/self-paced/distance-learning/remote training shipped all around the US and the world.
Extensive participation in conferences, conventions, symposia, and more in the US and overseas as speakers, panelists, sponsors, and other roles and responsibilities. Training classes conducted in countries around the world.
2007
Ex-Senator Sarbanes (D-MD) Accepts the Award of Honorary Chairpersonship of Sarbanes Oxley Group’s SOX Institute
Shortly after retiring in 2007, Senator Sarbanes accepted Honorary Chairpersonship of the Sarbanes Oxley Group’s SOX Institute. We are forever grateful to Senator Sarbanes for his support and encouragement.
Ex-Congressman Oxley (R-OH) Accepts the Award of Honorary Chairpersonship of Sarbanes Oxley Group’s SOX Institute
Shortly after retiring in 2007, Congressman Oxley accepted Honorary Chairpersonship of the Sarbanes Oxley Group’s SOX Institute. We are forever grateful to Rep. Mike Oxley for his support and encouragement.
World launch of GRC Institute™
Launched GRC (and IS/IT-GRC ) Institutes, and their corresponding training and certification programs for professionals in both business as well as IS/IT.
2008
Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Body of Knowledge™ (SOXBOK™)
Release of the group’s Sarbanes-Oxley Body of Knowledge (SOXBOK™) created by a team of over 20 professionals led by a Big-Four Team Lead.

Active Involvement (2007-09)
OCEG (Open Compliance and Ethics Group) released its RedBook 2.0 for which our Founder (Mr. Sanjay Anand) was on the Steering Committee.
Book topics include: Principled Performance, The Evolution of GRC, High-Performing GRC, Key Roles and Accountability, Anatomy of the Capability Model, Universal GRC System Outcomes, and GRC Component Overview.
Our Chairperson Honored by the NASBA Center for Public Trust (CPT) at the Fifth Anniversary celebration of the CPT.
2010
IIA’s Global Recognition of our CSOXP certification credential
CSOXP accepted as Professional Recognition Credit in lieu of Part IV of Institute of Internal Auditors’ (IIA’s) Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) exam.
2018
